We have access by faith into this grace in which we stand through him, and we boast in the hope of God’s glory.

So… if I can’t earn God’s grace, how do I get it? I know I have to accept it, but how exactly do I do that? According to Paul in his letter to the Romans, faith is the key that opens that door.

But… what exactly does that mean? “We have access by faith…” Does that mean all I have to do is say that I believe in Jesus? This morning, God showed me that it’s a little bit more than that.

Ok… it’s a lot more than that.

Faith comes from the Greek word “pistis.” Pistis means conviction. Pistis means reliance on Christ for salvation. Pistis means constancy in the profession of that conviction and reliance.

That is so much more than some empty words that I say without another thought.

Faith is being convicted in my belief in Christ. It’s completely relying on Him to save me. It’s consistently turning to that conviction, belief, and reliance.

So, that word “faith” is a very loaded word.

When I have FAITH, I’m given access to God’s grace. That’s when He covers me in His unmerited, unearned love and favor. That’s when He goes to work on my heart. That’s when I can see the effects of it in my life.

And that is when I can stand confidently in that grace and brag about the hope I have in knowing that one day I will share in God’s glory.

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me…
