GALATIANS 3:1-14

Devotional days like today really make my heart smile because I love reading about how much God loves me and how unconditional that love really is.

The whole time I was reading this part of Galatians, I just kept thinking about the prize counter at Chuck E. Cheese. There are all these amazing (and some that aren’t so amazing) prizes on display. Kids are frantically trying to win the games they’re playing so they can get more and more tickets. The ultimate goal is to get enough tickets to earn one of the huge prizes. Unfortunately, more often than not, they fall short. They don’t have enough tickets to get the prize they’re trying for, and they end up leaving disappointed.

Thank goodness that’s not how God operates!!

I don’t have to spend my life trying to be good enough to earn God’s love. I don’t need a list of good things that I have to accomplish and check off so that He will love me.

And if He did work that way, I would be in trouble because I would NEVER be good enough no matter how hard I tried. I would fall short every time. I would end up like those kids who leave disappointed, except that’s the veil I would live under every single day.

God loves me. Period.
God sent His Son to save me. Period.

He has already given that amazing gift to me. All I have to do is accept it and have faith in it.

God doesn’t love me because I am good. He loves me because HE is good.

I don’t try to live my life the right way to earn His love. I do it in RESPONSE to His love.

I can’t earn what God has already given me.

And, praise God that I don’t have to!
